Lyle Tiffany is the Deputy Project Manager for Resources for the National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS) Preparatory Project (NPP). He is responsible for developing and managing the project resources including the financials, schedules, budgets, procurement, configuration management and general business support.
He began his career at Goddard as a resource analyst in the Projects Directorate and has held many positions over 37 years. He supported the Systems Reliability and Engineering Directorates as a resource analyst and acting financial manager. After joining the Financial Management Division of the GSFC Controller's Office in 1980, he served as the Head of the Project and Functional Support Section of the Budget Branch. In 1989, he transferred to Tracking and Data Relay Satellite (TDRS) Project as the lead resource analyst on the TDRS F-7 Replacement Program and was then appointed as the TDRS Financial Manager in 1992. He served as the TDRS Deputy Project Manager for Resources for the TDRS H, I, J Program in February 1999. After the launch of TDRS- J in December 2002, he worked the early formulation phase of the TDRS K/L Program until May 2005 when he joined the NPP project.
Although he enjoys managing finances, in his free time he enjoys flower/vegetable gardening, baseball (Little League & Phillies fan) and traveling old scenic highways across the US while taking photographs along the way.
